Will the Steelers activate Santonio Holmes?
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has announced wide receiver Santonio Holmes will not play in Sunday‚Äôs game against the New York Giants. Pittsburgh Police have indicated Holmes will be charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession after a traffic stop Thursday near Mellon Arena in which police smelled burning marijuana and found marijuana-filled cigars in his car. Holmes is second on the team behind Hines Ward with 22 catches for 360 yards and a touchdown.

According to the Associated Press, Holmes acknowledged having marijuana when stopped and pointed out the blunts to officers. Holmes was stopped about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Centre Avenue and Mario Lemieux. Officers were searching for a black SUV with out of state plates believed to be carrying a large amount of narcotics, which fits the description of Holmes vechicle but Holmes was not the vehicle they were seeking. Ben Roethlisberger is calling for the no-huddle offense early and often. Ben is also calling for the Steelers to run quicker and shorter routes. Most notably Santonio Holmes. The Steelers have Holmes running too many deep routes but that may change with the no huddle offense. Look for Holmes to be Roethisberger‚Äôs primary target on quick slants and quick outs. The Steelers need to get him involved in the offense more on short quick throws and let him use his playmaking ability for gaining yards after the catch Gary Russell is expected to get 6-8 touches Sunday night. Sean McHugh will see some time at fullback. Mewelde Moore may have his biggest impact in the passing game against the Jaguars.
