Kings will be in must-win situation Friday night at Mellon Arena

Dustin Brown scored with 34 seconds left in overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings (30-30-10) a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins Thursday night. The Kings rallied from two down, to get a much needed win as they’re five points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Los Angeles travels to Pittsburgh for a matchup against the league’s hottest team Friday night. The Kings will be in another must-win situation. Don’t expect to see Pittsburgh native John Zeiler in the lineup for the Kings tomorrow night. Zeiler was a scratch once again Thursday night.

Game 39: Penguins faceoff against the Panthers at 1:00 p.m./ Post-Game Speculation

Updated: 10:52 p.m: Frustrations in the locker room and in the front office continue as the Penguins were embarrassed at home today losing 6-1 to the Florida Panthers. Michel Therrien‚Äôs job is safe for now. Let‚Äôs get that out of the way off the bat. If the Penguins were to continue to plummet in the standings then as always the coach could take the fall but to this point ownership has no interest in making a switch. Ray Shero has been very active in the past 72 hours but don‚Äôt expect to wake up in the morning and see the Penguins make a major trade or see Jordan Staal get traded. Those kind of trades don‚Äôt happen overnight and as of this morning the Penguins were not involved in any serious talks that would land the Penguins a top 6 winger. What I mean by a top winger is aRead More »

Game Day: Zigomanis, Kennedy out for tonight’s game

Pittsburgh Penguins (14-6-4-32) at Carolina Hurricanes (12-11-2-26) Kennedy, Zigomanis out: I’ve been told within the past 10 minutes that Center Mike Zigomanis who was listed as probable this morning is officially out for tonight’s game. About the Hurricanes: The Hurricanes went 7-9-0 in November which lead to a coaching change on Wednesday. Former Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice will be back behind the bench after coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs for two seasons. Maurice coached the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes for 8 seasons, including reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2002. This could be a tough game for the Penguins playing back-to-back games and the Hurricanes will be playing their first game in front of their new coach. Official lineup unclear: Penguins did not have a morning skate today so it is unknown what lines head coach Michel Therrien will go with. Word is we could see Crosby and Malkin playing togetherRead More »
