Todd Haley Press Conference Tidbits
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin introduced new offensive coordinator Todd Haley to the media this afternoon at the Steelers southside complex.
"It's with great pleasure that I announce Todd Haley as our new offensive coordinator, " Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said.
"When I started this process, I did a lot of research and was really impressed with him, " Tomlin said. What stood out to Tomlin was Haley's "unique" element of his "genuine love for the Pittsburgh Steelers". He's another man who knows what it's about to be a Pittsburgh Steeler , " Tomlin said. Tomlin said he is always drawn to people who have a love for the Steelers organization.
"In my mind it's the greatest organization in the NFL, " Todd Haley said.
Those close to Todd Haley say that his first desire is to chuck the ball around like he did in Arizona when he had a star quarterback at the helm but head coach Mike Tomlin wants to keep that a mystery.
"We find pleasure in that being somewhat of a mystery, " Tomlin said on the Steelers terminology for next season.
"We're starting from a clean slate, " Haley said if he will use the current system in place.
Haley though sounds very intrigued about the Steelers young wide receivers and his love for tight end Heath Miller who is one of his favorite players.
"I'm excited about working with Ben and excited about three young {receivers} and Heath Miller is one of my favorite players I've studied and prepared for, " Haley said.
Making Heath Miller a bigger priority in the Steelers offense can only be a good thing, if that ends up being the case.
A big topic right now is Haley's potential working relationship with Ben Roethlisberger and whether there will be a mandate from ownership on there being a strong emphasis on the running game.
