Pirates not expected to pursue to Beltran
The Pittsburgh Pirates are showing a strong willingness in adding salary at the trade deadline but that doesn’t make them a match with the New York Mets for outfielder Carlos Beltran, the premier bat on the trade market.

The Pirates have kicked the tires on Beltran internally, but there are no expectations of making an actual play for Beltran sources say.
Three reasons the two sides at not a match: 1. Mets are seeking a top tier prospect in return; 2. Beltran’s No Trade Clause; 3. No draft pick compensation as super agent Scott Boras put a stipulation in Beltran’s contract that his client will provide teams no compensation if he signs elsewhere at the end of his deal.
