Morton not likely to re-enter picture for Pirates this season

  • Charlie Morton (hip) will throw a simulated game Tuesday but barring injury to a starter, don’t look for the Pirates to be jumping at any chance to re-enter Morton into the starting rotation were he to work his way back fully healthy. “He’ll probably be in a holding pattern, we’ll try to keep him sharp, try to keep him stretched out and he can be a starter for us if we need somebody to step in. But there will come a point in time in September we’ll have to make a decision,” GM Neal Huntington said on 937 The Fan.
2014 Stats (Pittsburgh Pirates): 5-12, 3.84 ERA
