According to a Penguins source, veteran forward Andrew Ebbett is leaning towards accepting an offer in Europe than continuing his career in the NHL. The Penguins had expressed interest in retaining Ebbett, but have been unwilling to guarantee a one-way contract to Ebbett.
Ebbett’s agent Alec Schall said “nothing final or signed at this point,” when reached for comment but confirmed his client was leaning towards signing in Europe. Ebbett is expected to sign with SC Bern of the Swiss league.
The 32 year old averaged a point per game in Wilkes Barre this past season with 44 points in 44 games. He appeared in 24 NHL games for the Penguins in 2014-2015.
JACQUES MARTIN TO SEE INCREASED ROLE
After being demoted last summer, Jacques Martin has a new title in the organization, being named special assistant to head coach Mike Johnston. Martin will become more involved with the coaching staff moving forward and continue his role of scouting the opposition. Martin will travel with the team full-time and be in the press box during games.
