The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Andrew Ebbett from Wilkes/Barre Scranton, the team announced.
Ebbett who has appeared in seven NHL games this season, has been playing extremely well in Wilkes Barre of late. Since March 7th, Ebbett had put together an 11-game assist/point streak, collecting 3 goals and 11 assists during that span.
He has 37 points (12 goals – 25 assists) in 40 games with Wilkes Barre this season.
The Penguins did not practice in Minnesota today. The team has back to back games against the Wild and Avalanche this weekend.
There was no word of any injuries last night, though, Beau Bennett played just four shifts in the third period and did not play in the last nine minutes. Jussi Jokinen also took a hard hit from Dustin Byfuglien in the second period of Thursday’s game that seem to shake him up for a few minutes.
With five games left in the regular season, the Penguins are still looking for an identity on the third and fourth lines. The team is in an exploratory phases during the final stretch of the regular season.
If Jokinen or Bennett are good to go, Ebbett could replace Jason Megna in lineup who struggled with his d-zone play vs Jets.
