The numbers are out on Ben Roethlisberger’s new five year contract and both sides weren’t bluffing when they said it was a “fair” contract.
The deal comes in at 5 years, $99 million with escalators that could push the total value of the contract to $108 million.
After being scheduled to make $11.6 million in 2015, Roethlisberger receives $87.4 million ($60.75 million guaranteed) in new money as many are looking at the deal as a four year, $87.4 million extension that comes out to $21.85 million per season, which is only behind Aaron Rodgers in new money average. That’s big time money compared to the NFL’s other top QB earners.
The deal is also structured where Roethlisberger receives $65 million in the first three years of his contract.
Highlights of the Contract:
- 5 Years – $99 million
- $31 million signing bonus
- $60.75 million in guaranteed money
- $87.4 million in new money
- Will make $65 million in first three years of contract (2015-2017)
