Letestu to wing being mulled
When Jordan Staal returns to the lineup, which will happen very soon, the coaching staff continues to mull the possibilities about where rookie forward Mark Letestu will fit into the lineup.
Letestu is expected to get an opportunity to solidify a spot as the third line center but moving to wing on one of the top two lines remains a possibility and has been discussed for the past two weeks.
“Right now Mark Letestu has done a great job at center, head coach Dan Bylsma said following Sunday’s practice.
“The flexibility of him playing on the wing, if he can be an offensive player and an offensive threat in that regard, then you may look to get him in a wing position when Jordan comes back. But if he keeps playing center the way he is now, he may make a bid for a third-line center position and solidify that. We’ll see how that plays out. There’s a chance he’ll stay in the top-6 when Jordan comes back, ” Bylsma said.
