Chris Conner is back with the Penguins. The 29 year old is rejoining the organization, agreeing to a one year deal (two-way) worth $550,000 at the NHL level, the team announced. Conner appeared in 60 games with the Penguins in 2010-2011, collecting 7 goals and 16 points. Conner had 2 points in 12 games with the Coyotes last season.
MORE BUZZ
*The Penguins have $63.62 million committed to 20 players for next season. That doesn’t include Dustin Jeffrey ($687,50 QO) Harry Zolnierczyk ($600,000 QO) and Robert Bortuzzo ($577,50 QO) who all received qualifying offers this week. A salary or two will have to be moved.
*Though maybe not ideal, I’m hearing the Penguins feel Tanner Glass could be a fit on the third line next season.
*If the Penguins had signed Dan Cleary, Jussi Jokinen was likely to be moved as the team had discussed Jokinen in trades the past couple days, sources say. Cleary, though, won’t be signing with the Penguins.
*Looking the Penguins roster, there’s huge hole on the third line and don’t be surprised if Chris Conner gets very strong consideration in training camp this September for a third line spot. He was always a favorite of Dan Bylsma’s.
