Matt Cooke’s disciplinary hearing with the National Hockey League was completed this morning, sources close to Cooke’s camp tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
“All done today, already, ” source said.
As of 12:00 p.m., Cooke has yet to receive notice from the league on the ruling but Cooke will be informed by the league of their decision before the end of the business day, I’m told.
The sense is Cooke may get away with this one as the league did not immediately rule on the suspension like they did with Anton Volchenkov this morning, who received a three game suspension.
However, I think his reputation will come back to bite him on this one. The league is getting a lot of heat from GM’s around the league for Cooke getting a free pass of late.
The Capitals wanted Cooke’s hit on Alexander Ovechkin to be reviewed.
