COULD JAMES HARRISON RESURFACE IN PITTSBURGH?
Will James Harrison get to finish his career in Pittsburgh after all? Harrison who turned down a 30% paycut (would have made $4.5 million) last off-season, has put his ego to the side after being released by the Bengals last week.
Harrison appearing on NFLNetwork tonight said he would like to rejoin the Steelers. When host Dan Hellie and Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor asked where Harrison wants to play this season, Taylor immediately jumped in with “Pittsburgh.”
Harrison’s response: “Everybody knows that.”
Was this just Harrison talking?
Apparently not. Word from the Harrison camp is that agent Bill Parise reached out to Steelers GM Kevin Colbert over the weekend.
Harrison turns 36 in May and had 30 tackles and 2 sacks in 2013 for the Bengals. Very poor numbers but Harrison never fit Cincinnati’s 4-3 defense, which didn’t surprise those around the league.
Is Harrison worth a gamble to bring into camp at the vet minimum? The Steelers lack depth after Jarvis Jones, and really who knows what they will get out of him, and don’t be surprised if the coaches think hard about the possibility, though, guess here is management will look to go in another direction and won’t be very interested. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin strongly wanted Harrison back in 2013.
