Crosby won’t play for Team Canada
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby in an expected and smart decision, has declined an invitation to play for Team Canada in the World Championships. The beneficiary of Crosby declining might be Jordan Staal as Team Canada is expected to invite Staal, but as of this afternoon there hasn’t been any official confirmation that an invitation has been made.
The talk in league circles is that Kris Letang’s banged up and might opt against playing.
Meanwhile Evgeni Malkin indicated a few weeks ago that he intends to play for Russia and it’s likely that Zbynek Michalek plays for the Czech Republic, if he’s healthy.
The Penguins are holding their exit meetings today and we’ll have updates from them later this afternoon. Pens GM Ray Shero is scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m.
