Sources in Pittsburgh are finally confirming the Penguins have had talks with the Phoenix Coyotes about Derek Morris but a deal is not close. There has been disscussions regarding Morris but no offer has been made from both sides. The Penguins have interest but Morris 3.9 million per season salary is scarying the Penguins away. Phoenix will have to sweeten the deal i have been told. An unidentified source who covers the Coyotes told me the Yotes are offering Morris for a 2nd round draft pick. This appears to be false according to sources in Pittsburgh. If this deal would happen a player off the Penguins roster would mostly be involved not a high draft pick. In all reality Morris coming to Pittsburgh looks to be very unlikely. The Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres are also interested according to sources in Phoenix
The Boston Bruins and Yotes have inquired about Ryan Malone. I’m sure Greg Malone is playing a role in that
The Penguins have inquired about forward Mike Johnson in recent days.
The Penguins offer to Colby Armstrong was a 2 year deal worth 850K in 07-08 and 900 k in 08-09. Take that deal
