Sleeper position for Steelers in Round 2
The Steelers have to go cornerback tonight in the second, right? With the second round set to begin tonight and the Steelers holding the No. 63 pick, the team is said to be actively looking to move up for a corner but if the value isn’t there, two notable wide receivers are said to be on the Steelers radar in round 2 and under strong consideration.
The Steelers are said to have extremely strong interest in North Carolina wide receiver Greg Little (6-3, 231) and Kentucky’s Randall Cobb (5-11, 191) to a lesser extent. The Steelers I’m told “love” Little and he’s expected to go at somepoint in round 2. Indications are his character concerns checked out with team.
Little is a tremendous vertical threat, while Cobb is viewed as more of a slot receiver. Hard to see them go in his direction.
If the Steelers go wide receiver, it would be a considered a pretty big surprise but that position is in play for the right player. With several other needs, the thought process has been that the wide receiver position was unlikely in the top 100 but there continues to be some chatter that it’s now in play.
Boise State’s Austin Pettis is another name to keep an eye on in rounds 3 or 4.
Another sleeper for the Steelers tonight, most likely in round 3: Taiwan Jones, running back, from Eastern Washington.
