The Pittsburgh Penguins this afternoon have placed enforcer Steve MacIntyre on waivers. The 31 year old appeared in 10 games, collecting 0 points, 0 shots on goal, 2 penalty minutes and averaging 2:34 of ice. He never had to drop the gloves, earning nearly half of his NHL contract, much more than he would have earned in a full season in the minors. MacIntyre was signed to a 1 year contract this past summer that pays him $600,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 in the minors.  A move had been neccessary with the Penguins expected to activate Dustin Jeffrey off injured reserve. If MacIntyre is not claimed by 12:00 p.m. Thursday, MacIntyre can be sent down to Wilkes Barre/Scranton. |
