Evgeni Malkin, the NHL’s leading scorer with 97 points, has been named the NHL’s first star of the week (3-12/3-18), the NHL announced today. Joining Malkin in the weekly honors is Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, who was awarded the Second Star, and Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin, the Third Star. Malkin had 5 goals and 4 assists in four games this past week and his week was highlighted by a five point effort against the Winnipeg Jets last Tuesday. Malkin holds a 10 point lead over Steven Stamkos for the NHL lead in points and is second in the NHL with 46 goals. |
