Head coach Dan Bylsma announced today following practice that Evgeni Malkin will be sidelined for at least 2-3 weeks with a shoulder strain.
Malkin was evaluated by Dr. Charles Burke this morning and the decision was made by the staff to keep Malkin out of action.
The 2008-2009 NHL points leader is tied with Sidney Crosby for the team points lead with 14. Malkin will be re-evaluated in the next 10-14 days.

As for potential call-ups?
The Penguins will make 2-to-3 call-ups for their west coast trip with Gonchar, Malkin and Kennedy injured and atleast one call-up for tomorrow night’s game.
Jordan Staal will move up to center the second line and Craig Adams will center the third line.
