Pre-Game Updates
Source on the scene tells me backup goaltender Brent Johnson will get the start today against the New Jersey Devils. Marc Andre Fleury is coming off a subpar game and will sit.
Johnson was 10-6-1 last season with a 2.76 GAA and .906 save percentage.
New Jersey and Pittsburgh will both be looking for their first wins of the season this afternoon. The puck drops at 4:08 p.m.
The Devils will be playing with 15 skaters — 9 forwards and 6 defensemen.
Defenseman Anton Volchenkov (broken nose) and left wing Brian Rolston will both sit out due to injuries. Meanwhile, enforcer Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond will serve his automatic one-game suspension today.
Due to cap problems, the Devils were not able to make any callups.
