Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will return to the lineup Monday night vs the New York Islanders, the Penguins announced minutes ago.
Pittsburgh opens this week with three consecutive home games.
Crosby last played on January 5, 2011. The Penguins have gone 34-19-8 in their last 61 games without Crosby, who is believed to have been symptom free since early September. They are 11-6-3 on the season.
Crosby who has been practicing with the Penguins on a daily basis was cleared for contact on October 12th. He has not spoken with the media since November 7th but will do so following tomorrow’s morning skate.
The Penguins did not practice today, so there is no indication on who Crosby will play with tomorrow night. The Penguins plan has been for Crosby to center both Chris Kunitz and James Neal on the top line.
Crosby had 32 goals and 66 points in 41 games last season. He last scored a goal on December 28, 2011.
