Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes did not participate in today’s voluntary workout. Holmes who was recently in Pittsburgh has been hit with a civil lawsuit from an alleged incident in Orlando, Florida.
Holmes told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols today that he has confidence that this matter “will be taken care of quickly, within the next 24 hours.” Holmes also told Ms. Nichols, “I didn’t do anything, my lawyer is handling it from here.”
According to a team source, Holmes is expected to be at the facility sometime this week. He has already spoken with head coach Mike Tomlin and ownership.
The workouts are not mandatory.
A number of veterans participated in today’s workout, including Ike Taylor and LaMarr Woodley who are entering the final year of their contract.
Aaron Smith was the only player made available to the media.
Along with Holmes, Troy Polamalu and Ben Roethlisberger were among the key players who did not participate.
At this point we have not been able to confirm that Willie Colon participated in today’s workout. Colon has yet to accept his RFA offer.
