Tomlin: “Aaron Smith a week closer”
Here’s an update on the injury front for the Steelers.
*Inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons has a hip contusion. Tomlin said Timmons will be limited early in the week but Tomlin expects Timmons to play this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders which is very good news on that front.
*Left guard Chris Kemoeatu is getting closer with an ankle sprain. He’s regarded as probable and Tomlin said he should probably play.
*Troy Polamalu has showed up on the injury report. Tomlin said that Polamalu has a right Achilles strain. Tomlin is confident that Polamalu will be able to practice by Friday.
*Defensive end Aaron Smith is progressing well and his rehab is on schedule. Tomlin said Smith is a “week closer” when discussing his progress. Smith is on track to return in mid-December.
*The Steelers expect Hines Ward to play after sustaining a concussion against New England.
*Defensive end Brett Keisel is not expected to play against Oakland as he remains bothered by a nagging groin injury.
*Will Allen remains bothered with post concussion symptoms. He still had headaches over the weekend which is why he was inactive on Sunday.
