The Pittsburgh Pirates today recalled RHP A.J. Schugel and re-assign catcher Elias Diaz to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The writing has been on the wall for Diaz as he began to be phased out with the return of Francisco Cervelli.

The 26 year catcher is hitting .266 with 1 home run and 14 RBI this season.

Stewart over Diaz?

When receiving steady playing time, Diaz had a productive June in hitting .310.
