2016 first-round pick Artie Burns collected an $800,000 roster bonus on Sunday and had an interception to go with it during team drills. It was a good day for Burns who got to run with the first-team as Joe Haden was given a veterans day off. “He’s playing solidly but we are just getting started here,” head coach Mike Tomlin said of Burns.
Despite securing the roster bonus and the fact he would still count $2.1 million against the cap if he’s cut, Burns chances of opening the season in Pittsburgh continue to be tenuous as he enters training camp and the preseason fighting for one of the final backup spots.
