Derick Brassard is on the move again.
The Colorado Avalanche have acquired Brassard from the Florida Panthers in-exchange for a 2020 3rd round pick. This is the type of deal the Penguins felt they were going to be forced to take for Brassard prior to the Nick Blugstad, Jared McCann deal surfacing. Brassard had 1 goal, 3 assists in 10 games with the Panthers.
Wanting cap flexibility for the summer, the Panthers basically traded Nick Blugstad and Jared McCann for a 2019 second-round pick, 2019 4th-round pick and a 2020 3rd-round pick. Florida made the trade for Brassard with hope that by deadline day they could get a second-rounder for him but that type of market never developed for the struggling forward.
