Beau Bennett (2) and Phil Kessel (4) scored 1:57 apart in the third period as the Penguins (5-4-0, 10 pts) defeated the Washington Capitals (6-2-0, 12 pts) 3-1 on Wednesday night. The early third period surge saw Bennett tie the game at 1-1, a 1:52 into the period and Kessel netted the game winning goal less than two minutes later in burying a feed in front from Evgeni Malkin.
Nick Bonino (2) added an empty net goal.
Marc Andre Fleury was spectacular again in making 33 saves on 34 shots. Pittsburgh was out-shot 34-25.
The Penguins have won five of six games.
