Pirates 5 – Mets 4 (10)

Win: T. Watson (3-1)
Loss: T. Pill (0-1)

John Jaso Delivers

John Jaso came off the bench in the 9th inning to deliver a 1-out run scoring single, tying the game at 4-4 to force extra innings.

He would then deliver again in extra-innings.

This time with the bases loaded and full count, Jaso hit a single to right on the ninth pitch of the at-bat, scoring David Freese for the walk-off win.

The game winning hit was Jaso’s first hit off a lefty all season.

The Pirates improve to 23-27 on the season.

Gerrit Cole roughed up

Gerrit Cole allowed a career high 3 home runs, lasting just 5 innings in the no decision. Cole and the Pirates were fortunate it was only a 4-2 game after the top of the 5th as the Mets were hitting Cole hard all game.

Cole surrendered 10 hits, 4 earned runs, striking out 3 and walking 1. He threw 98 pitches, 64 for strikes.

McCutchen homers, drives in 3-runs

Andrew McCutchen had a nice night, minus whatever he was doing rounding third and heading home in the sixth on a grounder to short to end the inning.

McCutchen delivered a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning, then doubled to left scoring Josh Bell in the 6th. In the eighth he drove a ball to deep center.

McCutchen was 2-3 with a home run, 3 RBI, double and walk in the win.
