Pirates 5 – Dodgers 1

A rarity this season, Andrew McCutchen did it all Friday night with his glove and his bat in leading the Pirates (58-55) to a 5-1 victory over the Dodgers (64-51).

McCutchen homered and drove in two runs, going 2-4 at the plate and made an outstanding, over the shoulder catch near the warning track in the second inning.

Jordy Mercer also homered in the win.

Starter Ivan Nova improved to 2-0 as a Pirate, allowing nine hits and a lot of hard contact but limited the Dodgers to one run. Nova struck out two and walked none.
