The New York Rangers official hiring of Mike Sullivan a week ago, saw Sullivan receive the highest AAV in NHL coaching history, receiving a 5 year, $32.5 Million contract + incentives that could net Sullivan over $7 Million per season based on escalators. Sullivan prior to being fired by the Penguins, was set to be entering the fourth year of a five year, $27.5 Million contract with the Penguins he signed in 2022.
“The second Mike was available, we quickly and aggressively pursued him,” Rangers GM Chris Drury said Thursday in Mike Sullivan’s Inductory Press Conference. “We are certainly thrilled that pursuit led us to this moment today. There’s a lot of work to be done.”
