In an expected move, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton head coach Mike Vellucci has been named general manager of the WBS Penguins, the Penguins announced this afternoon.
Vellucci, 52, will now serve as the head coach and General Manager of the WBS Penguins.
“Mike has experience and success in being a general manager and coach,” said Penguins GM Jim Rutherford in a released statement. “We are fortunate to have someone that can handle both duties.”
The Penguins plan all along has been to replace Bill Guerin internally, at least for the 2019-2020 season.
