The Washington Nationals pegged to be big players at the Winter Meetings on their home turf, are in trade talks with not only the Pirates about Andrew McCutchen but also star pitcher Chris Sale, while trying to resign closer Mark Melancon.

Jon Heyman reports the Nationals believe they can afford to add two of the three targets.

Melancon is set to land at least a 4 year, $60 million contract in free agency. The Nationals and Giants are considered the front runners.
