Islanders to hire Barry Trotz

The expected has happened.

Just three days after resigning as the Washington Capitals head coach, Barry Trotz will be hired as the New York Islanders new head coach.

The deal is a big one as Trotz will receive a five year deal north of $20 million, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

The deal will put him over a million per season more ahead of two-time Stanley Cup winning coach Mike Sullivan who is making close to $3 million per season.
