The Florida Panthers announced this morning the team has fired head coach Bob Boughner after just two seasons behind the bench. “We didn’t meet expectations this season and share responsibility for that fact,” Panthers GM Dale Tallon said in a released statement. Florida’s next coaching search is expected to lean more towards an established high profile veteran coach. Allain Vigneault is expected to be near the top of the Panthers wishlist, same with Joel Quenneville. Former Penguins and Canadiens coach Michel Therrien was the runner-up for the job two years ago and is also expected to get a look again for the job. There are now six coaching vacancies: Florida, Anaheim, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Ottawa.
