Intrigue in Org around 2024 4th round pick Chase Pietila

The Penguins on Monday, agreed to a two-year contract (2025-2026 / 2026-2027) with University of Wisconsin defenseman Daniel Laatsch (6-5, 182) who was the Penguins seventh round pick in the 2021 daft.

Laatsch, 23 was the alternate captain for Wisconsin in 2024-2025, posting 2 goals and 3 assists in 22 games. In his collegiate career Laatsch totaled 6 goals and 20 assists in 126 career games.

2024 Fourth-Round pick Chase Pietila is also turning pro agreeing to a three-year contract on Sunday that also begins in 2025-2026. There is more upside and intrigue around Pietila who turns pro after just two collegiate seasons after being an overage draft pick in 2024. The 6-3 defenseman has some offensive upside with 7 goals and 15 assists in 36 games, totaling 44 points in 76 games at Michigan Tech. He really came onto the scene during his freshman season increasing his draft stock as a 20 year old in 2024.
