Leafs 3 – Penguins 2 (SO)
It was the Matt Murray and Jonathan Bernier show Wednesday night with the Leafs (14-15-7, 35 pts) coming away with the two points. Toronto secured a 3-2 shootout win as Peter Holland and PA Parenteau each scored shootout goals. David Perron the Penguins first shooter scored Pittsburgh’s lone goal in the shootout.
In a game that saw both teams trade chances all night, Murray was sensational for the Penguins (17-15-4, 38 pts) in the loss. He stopped 34 of 36 shots, including three breakaway saves, two in the third period.
Sidney Crosby (8) had a goal and assist in the loss. Chris Kunitz (5) scored his fifth goal of the season on the power play in the first period.
The Penguins with 38 points on the season are currently five points out of a playoff spot.
