The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Casey DeSmith, defenseman Andrey Pedan and forward Garrett Wilson from Wilkes Barre.

The moves were prompted by the team placing defensemen Kris Letang, Chad Ruhwedel and forward Bryan Rust on injured reserve. Letang is one injured reserve, retroactive to Dec 24.

DeSmith will serve as Tristan Jarry’s backup tomorrow night vs Carolina. The team would have called up newly acquired netminder Michael Leighton but the 36 year old is currently injured.

For Pedan and Wilson, this will be their first call-ups of the season. Pedan was acquired in the Derrick Pouliot trade.

Wilson who has 0 points in 34 career NHL games, has posted 6 goals and 14 points in 25 games for Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
