The Pittsburgh Penguins will not make a $3.9 million qualifying offer to Justin Schultz.

The Penguins are interested in resigning Schultz at a lesser price. If the team doesn’t strike a deal with Schultz prior to July 1, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

“We’re going to have to look at the Schultz situation real close,” Rutherford said today. “We’d like to have him back.”
