The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are putting the final touches on bringing an outdoor game to Pittsburgh next season (2016-2017) on either New Years Eve or early January 2017.
As part of the agreement the teams will also play an outdoor game in Philadelphia but details on when the outdoor game in Philadelphia will happen is to be determined. The organizations have been in discussions for months of doing a home-and-home series of outdoor games but it’s up in the air whether a home-and-home series can be pulled off.
The game in Philadelphia may not happen until the 2017-2018 season or the 2018-2019 season.
