NYR Recieves: Jacob Trouba
WPG Receives: Neal Pionk, 2019 1st Rd Pick (20th)

The New York Rangers who were expected to be big players this summer on the trade and free agent market have made their first big move of the off-season tonight in acquiring defenseman Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets in-exchange for defenseman Neal Pionk and a 2019 1st round pick (20th overall).

For the Rangers this is excellent value as the trade market for Trouba is said to have shrunk due to sign-ability concerns with the Trouba camp making it known over the last couple months to rival clubs that Trouba had all intentions of signing with the Rangers next summer.

The Penguins were among the final teams in the mix for Trouba.
