Sidney Crosby’s first even strength goal of the season at 11:56 of the third period ended up being the eventual game winner in the Penguins 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. Off an Avalanche turnover, Crosby got behind the D and took a feed from Pascal Dupuis to beat Reto Berra backhand for his third goal of the season. The goal put the Penguins up 4-2.
Matt Duchene cut the Penguins lead to 4-3, scoring his second of the game with a 1:23 left in regulation. The Penguins would hold on improving to 12-7-0, 24 pts, on the season and 9-3 in one-goal games.
