All three home runs in the inning came with two outs as the Cardinals became the first team in the expansion era to be trailing with two outs in the inning, then hit 3 home runs in the ninth and go on to win, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
All nine Cardinals runs came from home runs.
The loss was Pittsburgh’s eighth straight loss and are now 5.5 games out of the wildcard.
