— The Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday created nearly $13 million in cap space with the release of quarterback Mitch Trubisky, punter Pressley Harvin III and right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor. The release of Okorafor leads to a significant savings on the cap in 2024. Okorafor signed to a 3 year, $29.250 million contract in 2022 by former GM Kevin Colbert, was scheduled to count $11.8 million against the cap in 2024. Pittsburgh gets a cap savings of $8.75 million wit the release of Okorafor who lost his starting job after telling off former OC Matt Canada during the Jacksonville loss. The headline of the three cuts on Monday was none other than Mitch Trubisky whose extension will haunt the Steelers for two more seasons. The backup QB will still count $4.6 million in dead money in 2024 and $2.3 million in dead money in 2025. —
