Minutes later a second trade followed, a move that is among the first of many steps towards building next year’s roster as the team has acquired center Tommy Novak, defenseman Luke Schenn from the Nashville Predators in-exchange for Michael Bunting and a 2026 4th round pick. The Novak-Bunting swap saw Pittsburgh prioritize getting a center and a younger player with term in Novak as the team really started to keen on Novak in the last week.
