The Pittsburgh Pirates (75-52) offense erupted for 10 runs Thursday night in a 10-5 win over the San Francisco Giants (56-71). Starting pitcher Jeff Locke (9-4, 3.01 ERA) tho wasn’t among the bright spots. Locke once again was all over the place, allowing 5 hits, 3 earned runs and walked 4 batters in just 4 innings pitched. He threw 41 strikes on 73 pitches through 4 innings. Jeanmar Gomez (3-0, 3.29 ERA) came in relief of Locke and received the win throwing three scoreless innings. Locke has allowed an NL worst 72 walks this season and is 1-2 with a 5.71 ERA since the all-star break |
