2014 first round pick Kasperi Kapanen has been officially reassigned from Kalpa of the Finnish League to Wilkes Barre/Scranton, the team announced.
Wilkes Barre has 8 games remaining in the regular season. Kapanen hasn’t practiced with the team yet, meaning he likely won’t suit up until April 8th vs Lehigh Valley.
The Penguins are most intrigued to see how Kapanen adjusts to the smaller rinks.
Kapanen’s $925,000 cap hit does not make him an option to be called up to the NHL club until the playoffs.
