Latest on Tyler Kennedy talks
Contract talks between Penguins GM Ray Shero and Steve Bartlett, the agent for Tyler Kennedy are underway but a deal between the two sides is not imminent.
Sources involved in the talks indicate that talks are still in the preliminary stages and that the two sides have yet to push forward towards a deal.
When descrbing the talks, source called talks this week as a “feeling out” process between the two sides. Some numbers though have been discussed.
Kennedy’s camp has gone into talks seeking a salary in the $1.8 – $2 million range with an interest in a 2 year deal, but not opposed to a three year deal.
Pittsburgh remains hopeful to keep the base salary in the $1.4 – $1.6 million range and at this point the two sides are said to be $300,000 – $500,000 apart in base salary.
Will the Penguins and Kennedy meet in the middle like the team did last summer when Matt Cooke’s camp was seeking around $2.25 million per season?
