Phil Kessel’s training regiment in Toronto was often criticized by the Toronto media as Kessel rarely skated during the off-season.
However, what Kessel was doing in the past worked, as Kessel has not missed a game since the 2009-2010 season.
Kessel this off-season started training with Gary Roberts in July which saw the 27 year old winger develop better eating habits, a smart move for an athlete who is in his late 20’s. The decision to start training with Roberts was actually made by Kessel and his representatives at Newport Sports in June before he was traded to Pittsburgh.
