According to reports of out Tampa Bay, defenseman Jason Cullenmore is looking to return to Tampa Bay. Cullenmore helped them win a Stanley Cup in 2004. “It’s an absolutely perfect fit,” Cullimore’s agent, Roland Thompson, told the St. Petersburg Times. “He’d like to come back to Tampa, and we’ve had some discussions. If the opportunity came, it would be his first choice.”The Times speculates that Cullimore might cost only around $650,000, but even that pushes the Lightning closer to their self-imposed payroll budget of $44M.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been quiet this off-season and are expected to head into the season with goaltenders Pascal Leclaire and Fredrik Norrena according to the Columbus dispatch. Despite what the dispatch is reporting sources have said the Blue Jackets did inquire about Rangers goaltender Al Montoya.
The Rangers are working on a deal to send C Matt Cullen back to the Hurricanes, according to The Daily News of New York. Cullen has three years at $2.8M per season remaining on the contract he signed last summer after helping Carolina win the Stanley Cup. The Rangers are also looking to move Paul Mara’s 3 million a year salary but have not been able to find any takers.
