Latest on defenseman Ben Lovejoy
Ben Lovejoy’s chances of winning the No. 7 defenseman spot are over, even though his chances of winning the battle were minimal anyways after a subpar camp.
The vibe coming out of today’s practice is that Lovejoy (right shoulder) will not be ready for the season opener and the early prognosis is that he will miss atleast 2-3 weeks.
Lovejoy was evaluated yesterday by Dr. Chip Burke and underwent further tests today. A full determination on how much time Lovejoy will be sidelined won’t be known until the weekend.
Lovejoy did not practice today and is not expected too anytime soon.
Goaltender Brent Johnson did not practice today with the Penguins regulars. He is fine and will be available for Sunday’s game against Detroit.
