Shorthanded Pens
The Pittsburgh Penguins will go into New Jersey Thursday night without Sidney Crosby who will miss his 7th straight game due to a concussion and the team will now be without the struggling Evgeni Malkin.
Malkin will miss tomorrow’s game due to an undisclosed injury, Dan Bylsma just said at his media session.
Malkin who has 3 assists in 6 games without Sidney Crosby, is 44th in the NHL with 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 42 games this season.
Updated: The Penguins have officially recalled forward Dustin Jeffrey just after 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. Players recalled after 4:00 p.m. do not count against the cap for that day.
Jeffrey who has now been called up six times, hopefully gets an extensive look on one of the top-3 lines against New Jersey.
Jeffrey, 22, has appeared in four games with Pittsburgh this season. He recorded his first career two-point game with a goal and an assist Dec. 11 at Buffalo.

Jeffrey, Pittsburgh’s sixth-round pick (171st overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft, currently paces WBS in assists (26), points (41), shorthanded goals (5) and shots (132).
